Bhumchu festival: Tashiding Monastery of Sikkim opens doors for public after pandemic

After a gap of almost 2 years owing to the Corona Virus pandemic, the Tashiding Monastery in Sikkim, finally reopened its doors for devotees on the auspicious occasion of Bhumchu

After a gap of almost 2 years owing to the Corona Virus pandemic, the Tashiding Monastery in Sikkim, finally reopened its doors for devotees on the auspicious occasion of Bhumchu festival.

Prior to the pandemic, devotees from across the state and neighbouring countries, visit the sacred Tashiding monastery to participate in the holy Bhumchu festival. Bhumchu festival is a pious Buddhist festival observed annually at Drakar Tashiding Monastery in Sikkim’s Gyalshing District.

As a part of the festival, the distribution of the holy water or Bhumchu and the audience of the holy Bumpa or Vase commenced on Saturday.

As per information received from the organizers, all COVID-19 safety protocols were strictly followed during the program, meanwhile, a total of 24,590 devotees were recorded to have reached the Monastery by 12 noon on Saturday.
