A ring of human traffickers have been busted in Assam who have been trafficking illegal Rohingyas to different parts of the country.

The NIA in a major operation has busted the human trafficking ring in Cachar district’s Katigora and have arrested a total of six persons involved in the racket.

 Apart from them, two Rohingya women who were trafficked into India by the gang from neighbouring Bangladesh have also been taken into custody.

The ringleader identified as Kumkum Ahmed Choudhury, who is also an illegal Rohingya herself, has been arrested from Bengaluru where she had been running the racket from. Among the other arrested persons, five have been nabbed in Assam while one has been arrested in Meghalaya.

 The ones arrested in Assam have been identified as Shah Alam Laskar, Jamaluddin Chouchury, Bapon Ahmed Choudhury and Yahiya Ahmed Choudhury.

The gang had been trafficking illegal Rohignyas into India via Katigora and had been sending them off to different parts of the country with fake documents.
