The Naga People’s Front is on a blazing campaign trail in the hill districts of Manipur. Today in Ukhrul the NPF concluded its state level campaign. The party from tomorrow onwards will conduct campaigning in the assembly constituencies.

NPF president Shurhozelie Liezietsu today made a significant statement as he said that the regional party is with the BJP in Manipur. Liezietsu said that the NPF never steps back when a certain decision is made unless the party is forced to review the decisions. In fact, the NPF president went on to say that it was his party which had saved the N. Biren Singh government twice. However, Shurhozelie Liezietsu maintained that though both the NPF and BJP is in close association, but there is no alliance or written agreement between the parties. Liezietsu believes that if everything goes well, the spirit of the NPF’s association with the BJP will always prevail.

The NPF president also launched a scathing attack on the Congress for its stand against the tribals and solution to the Naga political issue. Addressing a party rally in poll-bound Manipur’s Ukhrul district, Liezietsu said that the Congress had passed 3 anti-tribal bills in the assembly namely Peoples Protection Bill, Shop and Establishment Bill and Land Revenue Land Reform Bill. The NPF president further slammed the Congress for passing a resolution against solution of the Naga political problem. It was only for this reason that the then 4 NPF MLAs had resigned from the assembly before completing 5 year term, Shurhozelie added. According to the NPF president the action of the MLAs was nothing but sacrifices for the sake of people.
