FC Goa kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a five-star performance against Chennaiyin FC whose aspirations of a top-four spot were dealt a heavy blow, as they were humbled 5-nil in the Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Wednesday.

They remained in ninth place. It was Chennaiyin’s second consecutive loss, leaving the former champions with 19 points from 16 games and eighth place in the points table.

FC Goa dominated the match from start to finish, leaving Chennaiyin with little breathing room.

To sum up Chennaiyin’s night, Jorge Ortiz scored a hat trick after Makan Chothe opened the scoring for the Gaurs with Narayan Das putting the ball in his own net.

The last time FC Goa won a match this season was on January 8, when they defeated Chennaiyin 1-0.
