With the recent Covid-19 spike in the country and the looming Omicron threat, Sikkim has issued new measures to prevent any Covid outbreak in the state.
In a fresh advisory for interstate movement, people entering the State will be required to produce a negative RTPCR report conducted within 72 hours prior to the date of entry. Additionally, the State Health Department will also organize Rapid Antigen Test at all the check posts and Pakyong Airport.
However, Government Officials on official tours, army personnel on duty, Officers of State Government on official tours, and election duty shall be exempted from the requirement.
Meanwhile, vehicles bearing registration numbers ending with odd digits will be allowed to ply on days having odd dates and even dates for vehicles with even digits.
This restriction however shall not apply to commercial goods vehicles, vehicles engaged in essential services, security and Army vehicles, Government vehicles on official tours. Registered luxury taxis shall also be exempted from this restriction. The orders will come into effect from 10 January till 24 January 2022.
