Outpatient services at the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh have been affected as its resident doctors join the nationwide stir over NEET-PG counseling.
The pan-Indian strike has been called under the banner of The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA). Expressing solidarity with the stir the junior doctors of AMCH have also decided to withdraw OPD services for today.
Around 200 doctors at AMCH are taking part in the protests bringing the OPD services to a standstill. However, emergency services have been exempted from the strike’s purview as well.
The junior doctors have been demanding an expedited counselling process for NEET PG admissions which is getting delayed. Its other demands include the appointment of non-academic junior residents to relieve the workload already overburdened doctors.
In addition to that, the association has also demanded the appointment of doctors in COVID duties so that post-graduate trainees can work in their departments without affecting their academic duties.
