Congress president Rahul Gandhi is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the Congress retains power in poll-bound Meghalaya.

The Congress scion, who is on a two-day visit to Meghalaya, addressed two rallies in North and West Garo Hills districts on Tuesday.

Addressing a gathering at Garobadha in West Garo Hills, Gandhi launched a direct attack on the BJP, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of cheating the people of the country by making false promises of ‘Acche Din’.

Further, he slammed the BJP for allegedly luring MLAs in Meghalaya with money and expressed gratitude to church leaders in the state for turning down what he called the centre’s attempt to provide financial package to churches in the name of tourism.

Rahul stated that the people of Meghalaya have proved that they cannot be bought. He also took a dig at the NPP, calling it the B-team of BJP. Meanwhile, he also addressed a similar rally in Mendipathar in North Garo Hills to drum up support for the party.

Later, he conducted a road show to Tura surrounded by supporters and party workers along the way. Gandhi is slated to attend a roadshow in state capital Shillong on Wednesday.
