Home Secretary of Mizoram has written to his counterpart in Assam urging the latter to make all necessary arrangements to enable entry of Mizoram bound vehicles.

Besides, in the letter the Mizoram home secretary has assured full safety and security of all drivers, passengers and vehicles within the state.

It may be mentioned that hundreds of vehicles bound for Mizoram have been stranded on National Highway-306 at Lailapur since July 26.

The ravaging impact of the July 26 skirmish along the Assam-Mizoram border has left the roads deserted with damaged vehicles and CRPF personnel on the guard. An entire 4 km stretch from Lailapur to Vairengte is being guarded by CRPF personnel.

Trucks and other vehicles belonging to Assam Police that were destroyed during the violence are still lying on the same spot.

Meanwhile, officials from the Mizoram side have reported that following the incident, the flow of vehicles from Assam to Mizoram has dropped drastically, which has severely affected the transportation of essential commodities, including vegetables and medical supplies.
