Amid rise in COVID-19 cases, the Sikkim government has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till June 21, however with easing restrictions.
Sikkim has been under lockdown since May 16. The ongoing lockdown was scheduled to be lifted on June 14.
As per the new directive, taxis and private vehicles will be allowed to ply on an odd-even basis for intra-district travel. Government vehicles shall be allowed to travel without the odd-even rule from 9 am to 5 pm for local movement. The rule will also be relaxed for commercial vehicles including trucks ferrying essential commodities.
The rules don’t apply for inter-district travel, which is still restricted.
Additionally, all standalone shops will be allowed to be open until 5 pm, and private commercial establishments can operate till 5 pm with 50 per cent staff. E-Commerce and home delivery of products are also allowed till 5 pm.
All Gyms, spas, barber shops, and parlours can open till 5 pm with 50 per cent capacity.
All state government offices and PSUs, boards and corporations shall be allowed to function with 50 per cent capacity.
Meanwhile, night curfew will be in place from 9 pm to 6 am as usual.
