In a major relief to the residents, State Power Minister James Sangma on Wednesday informed that the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has withdrawn the load shedding regulation in Meghalaya.
Sangma confirming the development said that he had called upon Union Power Minister RK Singh in New Delhi on 3 March 2021 to discuss the issue, owing to which the the NTPC has withdrawn the load shedding regulation.
“After my official visit to New Delhi on March 3rd 2021 to meet with Union Power Minister, I’m delighted to inform that the @ntpclimited, has withdrawn the load shedding regulation,” James Sangma tweeted.
Later, thanking Union Minister of State RK Singh and State Power Minister James Sangma for the development, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wrote, “Happy to inform that @ntpclimited has withdrawn the load shedding regulation. Thank Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Sh. @RajKSinghIndia ji for his intervention and State Power Minister, Sh. @JamesSangma1 for diligently pursuing the matter.”
Earlier, Conrad Sangma mentioned that the load-shedding across Meghalaya will be withdrawn as soon as the Bank clears the Letter of Credit (LC) to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NPTC).
It may be mentioned that the NTPC had recently invoked the Letter of Credit thereby restricting Short Term Open Access (STOA) through the North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre (NERLDC) which led to the disruption of power in the state.
Meghalaya load shedding: Normalcy to return in next 36-48 hrs
