After almost over a month-long stand-off between the management and the employees of the GVK EMRI 108 Services, the deadlock was finally broken on Friday after both the parties came to a consensus and agreed to restart the emergency services at the earliest.

Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek who chaired the meeting held at the State Secretariat told newsmen that there is no more problem as both the parties have agreed to resume their duties and the management will decide when to resume.

State Head of GVK EMRI, Deepankar Choudhury said that all the issues brought up by the employees was addressed and resolved and the ambulances will start its operation in a phase wise manner as many have been grounded for months and repair work is on.

Meanwhile, President of Meghalaya EMRI Workers Union, Roypar Kharraswai, said that from the eight charters of demands they are satisfied with most except their demand of 100 percent increase in salary to which the management agreed at basic hike of ten percent and an overall increment of ten percent.

It may be mentioned that the employees of the GVK EMRI 108 ambulance service have been raising their demands and issues like enhanced salary package, the shortage of manpower, the admission for leave, the rampant transfer and unusable condition of ambulances with the management for more than a year now, but the management has continued to ignore their problems.

Following which the Union had hit the streets and also staged hunger strike to put their point across demanding the state government to take over the services
