Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured COCOMI that Manipur’s territorial integrity and administrative unity would not be affected by the Naga Peace Talks.

As per a release issued by the COCOMI, a verbal assurance to this effect was given by Shah himself during his meeting with the 18-member COCOMI delegation which met him in Delhi last night.

According to the COCOMI, Shah also assured to take it into confidence besides the Manipur government, if at all there are any changes in the terms and conditions.

While Union Home Minister refused to give a written assurance on the matter, he urged the COCOMI and the Manipur government to convey the Centre’s assurance on the issue to the people of Manipur.

Meanwhile, the COCOMI has said that it will have a consultative meeting on the future of the ongoing protest movement on November 29.

The COCOMI has termed the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah fruitful, it is yet to call off the boycott of the famous yearly Sangai Festival.
