Academic activities in government colleges in Manipur have been badly affected, as the cease work protest by the Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association entered its 6th day today.
Unhappy with the non-implementation of 7th UGC pay and regulations; the college teachers have resorted to protest by boycotting classes.
The teachers’ body has alleged that the state government is indifferent in addressing its demands. Earlier on Monday, the teachers association staged a sit-in at DM College of Science in Imphal.
FEGOCTA General Secretary N Somendro said cease-work protest would continue till it lays heavy on the government to finally implement National Higher Education Policy of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations for the government college teachers.
Moreover, the teachers have also threatened to boycott BA, BSc & BCom semester exams scheduled to begin from 28 of November if government failed to take any action.
Earlier, the teachers’ association had withdrawn their cease work strike after Education Minister Th Radheyshyam assured them that he would put the matter to state cabinet within 4th of Nov.
