In just over a month of being sworn in, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government is in deep trouble with the Supreme Court issuing notices to the Centre, Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Minister PS Golay.
The notices were issued in response to a PIL filed by the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) challenging the appointment of Prem Singh Tamang or PS Golay as the Chief Minister.
In a big jolt to PS Golay, the apex court has issued notice to him on the grounds that he be disqualified from holding the post as he was convicted in a corruption case and had served one year of imprisonment.
It may be mentioned that the PS Golay led-SKM had stormed into power by bagging 17 out of the total 32 seats ousting the 25-year long Pawan Chamling rule.
