The newly elected chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, headed the state cabinet for the first time after being sworn-in on May 29, to condemn the killing of Khonsa MLA Tirong Aboh and decided to hand over the assassination case of Aboh to the National Investigation Agency for further investigation.
The council of Ministers unanimously made the decision of conducting a thorough investigation in a time bound manner so that justice is delivered expeditiously to the bereaved family members by nabbing the culprits urgently.
As a mark of respect to the departed souls, the cabinet approved of the provision of a Group C post in the Government to the next of kin of the deceased, and also decided to provide Rs. 20 lac as ex-gratia to the next of kin.
Meanwhile, according to a defence statement, as part an of overall operation to flush out insurgents from jungles of Tirap and Changlang districts, the army and Assam Rifles have intensified their joint operations along with the police and the civil administration.
