Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released the BJP’s manifesto or ‘Sankalp patra’ for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, promising big to the farmers and pledging to make India one of the biggest economic powerhouses by 2022.

Top BJP leaders including party president Amit Shah, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were also present at the event.

PM Modi after the release of 48-page manifesto said, BJP’s multi-layer and multi-dimensional manifesto addresses needs of all sections of society.

Presenting the BJP manifesto, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the BJP drafted the Lok Sabha election manifesto after constituting a committee headed by Rajnath Singh himself and 12 other sub-committees.

Rajnath Singh said the focus is on rapidly building the economy, he also added that national security has been given prime importance in the manifesto.

Significantly, the Union Home Minister added that the BJP stands by its decision to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) bill.

  • BJP will ensure passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament with utmost respect to every state’s cultural value.
  • The BJP promised to spend Rs 25 lakh crore on rural development in next five years.
  • The manifesto promises to give Rs 6,000 yearly income support to farmers and pension to small and marginal farmers above 60 years of age.
  • Strike capabilities of armed forces will be strengthened by giving them modern equipment.
  • BJP is committed to annulling Article 35 A of Constitution, provision is discriminatory against non-permanent residents of J&K, the manifesto states.
