Manipur Launches First Organic Outlet in UAE to Boost Global Presence

This significant step aims to promote the unique organic produce of the state and expand the market for Manipur’s farmers.
In a proud move to take Organic Manipur to the global stage, the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), under the Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, inaugurated its first dedicated Organic Outlet in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, on July 2. This significant step aims to promote the unique organic produce of the state and expand the market for Manipur’s farmers.
The outlet, located at Shop No. 2, Ajman New Public Market, Jurf Industrial Area 1, Ajman,approximately 40 km from Dubai, was inaugurated virtually by Arun Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary (Agriculture & Works), Government of Manipur. K. Debadutta Sharma, Director (Horticulture & Soil Conservation), and Peter Salam, Director (Agriculture), attended the event in person.
This initiative falls under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER), an ambitious programme of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The outlet will be operated by Manipur Middle East Foodstuff Trading (SPS-LLC), a venture led by the Manipuri diaspora, in close coordination with MOMA. It aims to promote fresh, processed, and value-added organic products from Manipur, while also strengthening the Organic Manipur brand internationally.
The outlet will support local Farmer Producer Companies and entrepreneurs, boost export potential, and significantly enhance the income of organic farmers from the region.
