Gauhati University has set a new benchmark in academic efficiency by prioritising students’ ease of living and leveraging technology to declare undergraduate and postgraduate examination results at an unprecedented pace. Through administrative reforms and digital transformation, the University has ensured thousands of students receive their results promptly, alleviating anxiety and enabling them to plan their next academic or professional steps with confidence.
Leading this transformative effort, Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor, emphasised the University’s student-centric approach. “Our mission is to place students at the heart of every decision. Timely and transparent result declarations empower them to move forward confidently. This achievement reflects our commitment to their success, and we will continue to invest in technology and process improvements to serve them better,” he said. Prof Mahanta expressed gratitude to the faculty of the affiliated colleges as well as the University, administrative staff, and the overall University community for their collective efforts in achieving this milestone.
Prof Kandarpa Kumar Sarma, Controller of Examinations, credited digital systems for streamlining the process. “Results have been declared well within expected timelines, thanks to the commitment of our faculty, examiners, and administrative staff. The Samarth portal, with its three-level verification system involving evaluators, scrutinisers, and Heads of Departments, ensures accuracy and fairness in evaluations,” he explained.
The statistics reveal that for B.Com 6th semester recorded a 91.16% pass rate, followed by B.A with 90.54%, and B.Sc with 87.25%, with results declared in 24, 32, and 25 days, respectively. Additionally, postgraduate departments demonstrated similar efficiency, with fourth-semester results across 35 departments and second-semester results for 32 departments declared in under two weeks. A significant number of results were also declared, on Monday, with over 30 results announced in the last two days, further highlighting the University’s dedication.
To address student concerns, Gauhati University has introduced an automated revaluation system, allowing students a 15-day window post-results to request revaluation via an online link, which deactivates automatically thereafter to ensure a tamper-proof process. A grievance redressal cell at the GUCDOE building operates daily from 2 to 5 PM, enabling students to resolve examination-related queries promptly, reinforcing the University’s commitment to fairness and accessibility.
The administration has also confirmed that law programme results will be declared within two months, ensuring all departments benefit from these enhanced systems. As Gauhati University continues to modernise its academic governance, this swift result declaration marks a significant step towards a more efficient, student-centric future, positioning it as one of India’s most trusted academic institutions.
