Train Services Resume in Dima Hasao After Fresh Landslide Disruption

Trains that had been rescheduled or held up at various stations have now resumed their scheduled onward journeys.
Train services resumed on Friday through Assam’s Lumding–Badarpur Hill section after a fresh landslide at between Dihakho and Mupa stations, disrupted operations yesterday, second time in a week. The incident occurred just days after trains had started running again following a 10-day suspension caused by earlier landslides in the region.
In a press release issued on Friday, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR stated, “The landslide disrupted train movement as large boulders and soil blocked the tracks. However, continuous efforts through the night helped clear the debris and restore the track safely.”
Train services through the section resumed from around 09:42 am on Friday. The first train to pass through the restored stretch was Train No. 12520 Agartala–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express.
Senior railway officials immediately reached the affected site and supervised the restoration work, which was carried out on a war footing. Teams worked overnight to ensure that the track was cleared and made fit for train movement by morning.
“Senior officials rushed to the site and led the restoration work on a war footing,” the release added.
Help desks set up at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur and Agartala stations continued to assist passengers with real-time updates during the disruption. Authorities also distributed food and water to stranded passengers.
Trains that had been rescheduled or held up at various stations have now resumed their scheduled onward journeys.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check the latest train running information through official railway enquiry channels.
“Passengers are requested to check train running information through official railway enquiry systems for real-time updates,” the CPRO said.
