A wave of shock and fury has gripped Nirathol village in Assam’s Cachar district following the horrific rape of a 10-year-old girl.
The horrific incident, which occurred under the Panibhora Gram Panchayat in the Dholai Assembly constituency, has left the young victim in critical condition, fighting for her life at Silchar Medical College.
Police acted swiftly, apprehending the accused identified as 25-year-old Asharam Keot, shortly after a complaint was filed.
However, the arrest has done little to quell the widespread outrage among local residents. The community is vociferously demanding the death penalty for Keot, whose alleged history of criminal activities in the area has further fueled public anger.
Calls for a speedy trial through a fast-track court are echoing throughout the region, underscoring the desperate plea for immediate and stringent justice.
