He also shared that MCPCR had recently discussed the matter with the Governor of Manipur.

Chairperson of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), Keisam Pradipkumar, has urged the state government to approve the Manipur State Policy for Children 2025 without any more delay.

He was speaking at a one-day advocacy meeting held at the conference hall of Wide Angle Social Development Organisation in Imphal. The event was organised by Wide Angle in collaboration with MCPCR and supported by Child Rights and You (CRY).

Pradipkumar said the policy is very important for the safety, education, and overall well-being of children in Manipur, especially those from poor and violence-affected areas. He also shared that MCPCR had recently discussed the matter with the Governor of Manipur.

“This policy will help solve many problems faced by children. All departments and people working for children must join hands to make this policy a reality,” he said.

Legal Consultant of MCPCR, Thiyam Rajkishore Singh, explained the latest changes made to the policy. He said these changes will make child protection laws stronger in the state.

The speakers shared that the policy was first drafted in 2015, submitted in 2017, and notified in the State Gazette in 2020. The Social Welfare Department has recently formed a committee to revise it, and the new draft has already been sent for approval.

Other key speakers included S. Saratkumar Sharma, Chief Advisor of Wide Angle and former MCPCR Chairperson, and Montu Ahanthem, Secretary of Wide Angle and former MCPCR member.
