These well-coordinated operations mark a significant success for Manipur Police in their ongoing efforts to restore peace and curb militancy in the region.

Manipur Police and security forces carried out a massive crackdown on Tuesday, arresting nine individuals in a series of intelligence-led combing, cordon-and-search operations across the state. The forces dismantled an inter-state arms smuggling network and nabbed multiple active cadres of banned militant outfits involved in extortion and other criminal activities.

The operations, which targeted key areas including Greater Imphal, Babupara, Lilong, and surrounding localities, led to the recovery of a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials.

In Greater Imphal, Manipur Police busted an inter-state arms smuggling racket. Police arrested four members of an organised gang that operated across state borders, smuggling arms into Manipur. Among those arrested was a cadre of the banned group UNLF-P. Police seized eight illegal pistols along with a significant stock of live ammunition from the gang.

In a separate operation at Babupara in Imphal West, police arrested three active UNLF-P cadres. The trio had allegedly been threatening and extorting government employees to gain illegal control over contract works. During the raid, police recovered three pistols and a cache of ammunition from the accused.

Meanwhile, in Lilong Hangamthabi area of Thoubal District, security forces arrested an active female cadre of UNLF-Ningol Macha from Hayellabuk Mayai Leikai. The cadre had been involved in several extortion cases targeting individuals, shopkeepers, and government institutions across Thoubal.

In yet another operation, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) from his residence on Liwa Road in Imphal West. The cadre had a history of engaging in subversive and criminal activities.
