UDP Accepts Resignation of Jemino Mawthoh. Party to Elect New GS by July

There are reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party has reached out to Jemino Mawthoh after he resigned from UDP

The United Democratic Party (UDP) has officially accepted the resignation of its General Secretary Jemino Mawthoh. UDP President Metbah Lyngdoh informed that the party’s Central Executive Committee will convene by the end of this month or, if delayed, in the first week of July to elect a new General Secretary. Mawthoh resigned from the UDP on May 31, citing personal reasons.


There are reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party has reached out to Jemino Mawthoh after he resigned from UDP.


According to source, the BJP has sent feelers to Mawthoh to join its ranks. However, Mawthoh’s stand is unclear as he is said to be weighing his options before taking a call on his political future.
Significantly, BJP Leader and Meghalaya Cabinet Minister A.L.Hek on Wednesday told Northeast Live that many leaders from other political parties are sending feelers to join BJP. However Hek did not specifically mention any name and party.
