The BJP called for swift international and diplomatic intervention to prevent further cultural, communal violence in the neighboring country.

Amid heightened security, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest march in Agartala today, strongly condemning recent attacks on the ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore and minority communities in Bangladesh.

The march, led by Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, commenced from Swami Vivekananda Maidan and concluded near the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh’s office in Agartala. Protesters carried placards and banners, raising slogans against the violence and alleged inaction by Bangladesh’s interim government led by Mohammed Yunus.

While speaking to the media, Bhattacharjee said, “The attack on the ancestral home of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore is an attack on the soul of Bengali culture and heritage. We also express grave concern over the continued violence against minority communities in Bangladesh.”

He further criticized the Yunus-led government for its failure to arrest the perpetrators and demanded immediate steps to ensure minority safety and protect cultural heritage sites. “The government has failed to safeguard minorities, their property, and cultural landmarks. It must step down,” he asserted.

The BJP’s demonstration in Agartala is part of a broader wave of protests across India and among the global Indian diaspora, demanding accountability from Bangladesh authorities.

Additional security forces were deployed to ensure peace during the protest, which concluded without any incident.

The BJP called for swift international and diplomatic intervention to prevent further cultural and communal violence in the neighboring country.
