Flood Affected JNIMS to resume services from 16 June. Academic Activities to Recommence

During the flood, all the patients and staff were moved to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) using boats.
The healthcare services including emergency services at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal will resume from 16 June. The services were temporarily closed following severe flooding which affected the entire campus from June 2.
According to a release issued by the Director of the institute, Prof.L.Usharani Devi states that efforts are underway to ensure full restoration of services and routine surgeries are expected to resume as soon as possible. The release further states that, academic activities of Undergraduate (MBBS and BDS) and Postgraduate (PG) trainees will also recommence from 16 June.
Significantly, the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, temporarily suspended all hospital services when severe flooding affected the campus.
During the flood, all the patients and staff were moved to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) using boats.
Rescue teams from the Manipur Fire Service, Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF worked tirelessly to evacuate not only patients but also stranded medical students and staff. They ensured that vital medical equipment and blood supplies were safely relocated.
JNIMS is the state referral hospital. Other private hospitals have also started functioning in the areas affected by the flood, which affected about 1.7 lakh people in the state.
