The Meghalaya Police has secured an 8-day remand of the 5 accused, including Raja’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the chilling crime.

The Meghalaya Police secured the 8-day remand of the accused after all 5 accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi (25), Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Anand Kurmi (23), and Raj Kushwaha (21) were produced before the District and Sessions Judge court in Shillong this evening.

The accused were then taken back to the Shillong Sadar Police Station.

This development comes as the police continue their probe into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, whose decomposed body was discovered near Weisawdong Falls at the Riat Arliang parking lot in Umblai, Sohra on June 2 while Sonam had disappeared and Meghalaya Police had launched a massive search operation for her till she surfaced in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh on June 9.

What initially appeared to be a honeymoon tragedy has now emerged as a premeditated murder. A case of betrayal, manipulation, and calculated planning allegedly involving multiple individuals, including the wife herself is grabbing the attention across India.

Sonam was taken to Shillong late last night while the 4 other accused – Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Anand Kurmiare and Raj Kushwaha (21) – were taken to Shillong this morning.
