Her brother said that his family has “completely disowned” Sonam

In a rather shocking turn in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, has said that based on the evidence so far he is “100% sure” that Sonam killed her husband Raja Raghuvanshi.

Sonam’s Brother Govind Raghuvanshi Breaks Silence:

Calling it a betrayal that has left two families shattered, Govind said, “Based on the evidence collected so far, I am 100% sure that Sonam murdered Raja.”

He said that his family has “completely disowned” Sonam and would now stand firmly with the victim’s family in their legal fight for justice.

“Raja was very close to my heart. He was like a brother to me. As Sonam’s family, we are shattered. We have severed all ties with her”, he added.

We Will Fight for Raja’s Family: Govind:

Govind expressed deep remorse over what transpired and extended solidarity with Raja’s grieving family.

“We will stand by Raja’s parents and fight the case in their favour. I had given my sister to their family in marriage, and now they have lost their only son. It’s a loss that can never be undone. I know I am no one to apologise on her behalf, but we are with them,” he said.

Rakhi Ties and a Shattered Bond:

Adding to the emotional gravity of the case, Govind revealed that Sonam used to tie rakhi to him and Raj Kushwaha the man now alleged to be her lover for the last 3 years.

How Govind Helped Police Track Sonam Raghuvanshi Down?

Recounting the day of her arrest, Govind said Sonam had called him from a roadside dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

“She sounded terrified and was crying, but did not explain anything clearly. I immediately contacted the dhaba owner, alerted the police, and got her arrested,” Govind said.

What Happened: A Honeymoon Turned into Horror

Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi reached Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21. On May 22 they reached Sohra from Shillong. The very next day, the couple went missing.
On June 2, Raja’s decomposed body was discovered near Weisawdong Falls at the Riat Arliang parking lot in Umblai, Sohra. Sonam, meanwhile, had disappeared.

As suspicion grew around her disappearance, police investigations began pointing to a larger conspiracy. Meghalaya Police, working with their Madhya Pradesh counterparts, arrested 4 people–Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Anand Kurmi (23), and Raj Kushwaha (21) in connection with the case.

On June 9, Sonam finally surrendered before the police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

Pre-Planned Murder, Not a Honeymoon Tragedy

What initially appeared to be a honeymoon tragedy has now emerged as a premeditated murder. A case of betrayal, manipulation, and calculated planning allegedly involving multiple individuals, including the wife herself.

All Accused Now in Shillong

Sonam and the 4 other accused were brought to Shillong late last night on a 7-day transit remand obtained by Meghalaya Police. They are expected to be produced before a Shillong court shortly. The investigation is underway.
