The deceased persons have been identified as 38-year-old Paban Kumar Mala and his young son Vicky Mala.

In a tragic incident, a father and his 3-year-old son were electrocuted to death in Dharamkhal area of Silchar in Cachar district of Assam after coming into contact with a live electric wire. This despite the power connection to their house being disconnected for 2 years.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning.

The deceased persons have been identified as 38-year-old Paban Kumar Mala and his young son Vicky Mala.

Locals meanwhile, are calling the incident a gross negligence by the power department.

According to a local, a live wire snapped from an old, poorly maintained electric pole located just outside the family’s home and fell, resulting in tragic deaths.

Despite the fact that the power connection to the household had been officially disconnected 2 years ago, the wire had never been fully removed, continuing to pose a threat.

Local alleged that the deteriorating condition of the pole and the loose wires had been reported to the electricity department multiple times. However, no remedial action was taken.

Authorities are yet to issue an official response at the time of filing this report.
