Binita Chettri Reaches Guwahati After Scripting History in Britain’s Got Talent

Binita Chettri, the 9-year-old who scripted history by securing the third position—second runner-up—at the grand finale of the world-famous reality show Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2025 Held in the UK on May 31 is back home. She arrived at the Guwahati airport this morning.

Binita who is from the small town of Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district became the first contestant from India to reach the finals of this prestigious global competition.

The competition was won by British magician Harry Moulding, while the second place went to LED dance group “The Blackouts.”

Binita stunned the judges and audience with her outstanding performances, particularly her intricate dance routines, which included physically demanding moves such as backflips. The judges gave her standing ovations for her performances. Before one of her performances, she emotionally shared, “If I win, I’ll buy a pink princess house.”

Behind her international success is the unwavering support of her father, Amar Chettri, who runs a small broiler farm in Assam and is actively involved in social and community affairs. He serves as an executive member and district vice president of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU). Recognizing his daughter’s talent, he arranged for her dance training first in Guwahati and then in Jaipur, under the guidance of her aunt Amrita Devi and renowned choreographer Hardik Rawat.
