In Assam, 3 landslides in Guwahati claimed the lives of 5 people. A major landslide took place in Bonda area where a woman and two children have been reported dead. The deceased woman has been identified as Poonam Goswami. The sudden landslide happened in the morning as the two children were playing in the house. The house had just been constucted just four months back, and today tragedy has struck the family.
Another landslide was reported from the city’s Datalpara area where a man has died. The deceased man has been identified as Dipjyoti Boro. The third incident of landslide was reported from the city’s Maligaon area where a man has died. The landslide which took place in the wee hours.
In East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, 7 people are feared dead on the Bana Seppa road.A car reportedly carrying the 7 people was washed away by landslide Friday night.
In Meghalaya two people lost their lives and three others sustained injuries as heavy rainfall triggered multiple landslides, flash floods, and tree collapse across East Khasi Hills district on Friday. A 50-year-old woman identified as Klosliya Kharkongor was killed when a landslide struck her residence in Lumkyntung village under Laitkroh Khatarshnong Block. Two other persons were injured in the same incident. Earlier on Friday afternoon, a man identified as Samborlang Tariang tragically drowned at Wah Krot in Mawbynna Pomlalrai under Mylliem Block.
As incessant rainfall battered several parts of Meghalaya on Friday, it left a trail of destruction.The severity of the impact has particularly jolted East Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills, and South West Garo Hills, with human lives lost, properties damaged, and public safety hanging in the balance.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has confirmed that a total of 25 villages—14 in East Khasi Hills, 2 in West Garo Hills, and 3 in Eastern West Khasi Hills—have been affected by the extreme weather.
In East Khasi Hills, seven roads, one school, and two shops have sustained varying degrees of damage. South West Garo Hills reported damage to one school. In Eastern West Khasi Hills, roads and power lines have been disrupted, while landslides and fallen trees have been reported at multiple locations. A specific landslide occurred at the Baghmara–Moheskhola road, further complicating mobility and relief access.
In response to the crisis, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday chaired an emergency review meeting with all Deputy Commissioners.The meeting focused on assessing the preparedness measures and the immediate action taken in each district.
In Tripura one person died by drowning. The incident has been reported from Jiranai in West district of Tripura.
In Mizoram a 37 year old man was killed and another injured after a retention wall collapsed on a labour camp in Aizawl.The incident took place on Friday.
In Assam a preliminary report issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority this Saturday morning states that a total of 03 districts and 08 Revenue Circles have been affected by Flood.The three distrcits are Dhemaji , Lakhimpur and Golaghat . Furthermore, 03 districts have also reported urban flood.
In Urban Flooding as reported today morning (9:00 AM, preliminary report), total 03 districts and 05 Revenue Circles have been affected in Kamrup Metro and Cachar district have been affected. NDRF and SDRF have been engaged for evacuation.
