Weather Alert: Arunachal’s Changlang Braces for Extreme Rainfall Today; Authorities Issue Public Advisory

Weather Alert Arunachal: A DEOC has been set up in Changlang to function round-the-clock during the emergency period.

The Meteorological Centre Itanagar has issued a district-wise rainfall warning, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in Changlang district today. In light of this, a special advisory has been issued to safeguard the lives and property of the general public.

Residents have been urged to avoid vulnerable areas such as landslide zones, flood-prone regions, nallahs, and sinking zones.

  • Activities like fishing, boating, and bathing in rivers or water tanks should be should be strictly avoided, the advisory said.
  • People have also been advised to stay away from large trees and heavy structures during high winds.
  • Quarrying or extraction of sand, boulders, and minerals from sensitive zones must be avoided.
  • Outdoor activities during intense rainfall and high-speed winds should be restricted.
  • Those residing near rivers, landslide-prone areas, and low-lying zones must remain highly alert and take all necessary precautions.
