Aizawl YMA Tournament: Armed Veng South faced off against Bethlehem Vengthlang, with Bethlehem Vengthlang emerging victorious.

While cricket continues to dominate much of the Indian sports landscape, Mizoram remains steadfast in its love for football. The state has long been known for nurturing top-tier talent in the sport and its deep-rooted passion for the game remains as strong as ever.

Most football fans in Mizoram may pledge allegiance to English Premier League clubs or international football giants like Brazil and Spain during the World Cup, but local football in Mizoram continues to thrive. The atmosphere in local matches often rivals, if not surpasses, the electric energy seen on global sports channels.

Currently, Aizawl is buzzing with excitement as the LBS Suzuki Inter-Branch YMA Football Tournament 2025, organized by the Central YMA in collaboration with the Mizoram Football Association, captures the city’s attention. With 154 teams vying for the champion trophy, the tournament is heading into its final stages and anticipation is building rapidly among supporters.

Despite heavy rain alerts, football enthusiasts and local team supporters are packing the stands at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium to watch the semi-finals matches today, passionately cheering for their respective branches.

In today’s first semi-final match, Armed Veng South faced off against Bethlehem Vengthlang, with Bethlehem Vengthlang emerging victorious. The second semi-final match is currently underway between Durtlang and Republic Veng. Although the finals will be contested between localities within Aizawl, teams from outside the city have demonstrated exemplary talent and attracted strong support.

The tournament has not only showcased the athletic prowess of young Mizo players but has also reinforced the strong community spirit and football culture that defines the state.

As the final approaches, one thing is certain: Mizoram’s love for football is not just a pastime—it’s a way of life.
