Tourist Missing in Meghalaya: Relatives of the couple have filed an FIR at Sohra Police Station.
The Sohra Police Station has initiated a search operation for the tourist couple Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore, who had gone missing after their visit to Mawlakhiat village, Elaka Mynteng, near the Double Decker Root Bridge in Nongriat, Meghalaya.
“From enquiries so far, we have learnt that on May 22, 2025, the couple arrived in Mawlakhiat village on a rented scooty and engaged a local guide, to escort them to a homestay in Nongriat, where they stayed overnight. They checked out from the homestay at 6:00 AM on May 23, 2025, and proceeded back to Mawlakhiat village. However, no villagers reported seeing them at the parking lot where their scooty was parked, despite heavy tourist activity and numerous vehicles in the area,” Sohra Police said.
On May 24, 2025, at 9:00 PM, the Sordar of Sohrarim reported an abandoned scooty in the village. The scooty’s owner was traced through an E-Challan and informed the Sohra Police Station on May 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, confirming that the vehicle had been rented to the missing couple.
A search party has been constituted, and by tomorrow morning, three search and rescue teams, comprising police and Home Guards, will be deployed to locate the missing couple.
Relatives of the couple have filed an FIR at Sohra Police Station.
The Sohra Police Station is actively investigating and has urged anyone with information about the couple’s whereabouts to contact the station immediately. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, the Sohra Police said.
