Rajya Sabha Polls In Assam on June 19, Results to be Announced the Same Day: ECI

RS Polls In Assam: BJP MPs Birendra Prasad Baishya and Mission Ranjan Das’s terms will end on June 14.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections for 2 seats from Assam.
The elections will be held on June 19, 2025, marking a notable political moment as the terms of two senior Assam BJP members, Birendra Prasad Baishya and Mission Ranjan Das will end on June 14.
As per the ECI schedule, the notification for the Assam biennial elections will be issued on June 2. Nomination filings will close on June 9, with scrutiny scheduled for June 10. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until June 12. Voting and counting will take place on June 19, ensuring a swift and transparent process.
Elections will also be held for Rajya Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu as six members are set to retire – Anbumani Ramadoss (PMK), N. Chandrasekharan (AIADMK), M. Shanmugam and P. Wilson (DMK), and Vaiko (MDMK) who will retire on July 24, 2025.
Amidst rising COVID-19 cases, the ECI has assured that necessary health protocols will be in place to ensure the safe conduct of elections. The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, and public safety, stating that any changes to the process will be promptly communicated.
