Tipra Motha Founder Pradyot Accuses Gomati DM of Refusing to Meet Despite Repeated Attempts to Discuss Public Issues

As of now, DM and the state government have not released any official statement regarding the incident.
In a development that has stirred political circles in Tripura, Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Sunday alleged that the District Magistrate (DM) of Gomati district, has deliberately refused to meet him for over a month, despite repeated attempts to discuss urgent public concerns.
Pradyot Debbarma, who also serves as an elected member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and holds the position of Chairman of the TTAADC’s Advisor and Administration Reforms Committee, accused the IAS officer of ignoring his calls and even blocking him on phone.
He said that on Sunday, he went to the DM’s official residence in Gomati district to meet him in person. However, the security guards and an attendant at the residence reportedly refused to pass on his message, leaving him waiting at the gate without a response.
Speaking to reporters later, an angry Pradyot Debbarma said, “For the past month, I’ve been trying to raise important public issues with the DM. He has not taken my calls. Today, I came personally, but I was still not allowed to meet him.”
This incident has raised many eyebrows as Debbarma, a well-known political figure who regularly meets top leaders at both the state and national levels, was denied access to a public servant who is expected to stay in touch with elected representatives.
The matter has triggered widespread speculation, especially since both Debbarma and DM belong to indigenous communities of Tripura. Debbarma is also the royal descendant of Tripura’s former monarchy, adding a layer of political and cultural sensitivity to the issue.
Observers are now questioning whether this is a case of personal conflict, an administrative misstep, or a sign of deeper issues within the state’s political setup.
The controversy also goes against Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s repeated instructions to government officials and police officers to remain accessible, sensitive, and people-oriented in their service.
As of now, DM and the state government have not released any official statement regarding the incident. However, the episode has sparked intense debate about the conduct of bureaucrats, the responsibilities of public servants, and the internal dynamics within the BJP-led ruling alliance in Tripura.
