Assam Double Murder: a man allegedly murdered his wife and her suspected lover late at night in a rented house in Pasnijar.

In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife and her suspected lover late at night in a rented house in Pasnijar, Nagaon district of Assam.

The accused, identified as Jayakanta Das, reportedly killed his wife, Geeta Rani Das, and Bhaskar Jyoti Nath, a TET-qualified teacher, using a rod. Following the double murder, Das surrendered at the Kampur Police Station.

Police promptly reached the crime scene and have since launched a full-scale investigation. The bodies have been sent to Nagaon for post-mortem examination.

According to sources, Das was employed in a private company in Guwahati and mostly lived away from home due to work commitments. His wife resided alone in a rented house in Kampur. She was allegedly involved in a long-term extramarital relationship with Bhaskar Jyoti Nath, who also lived nearby.

Bhaskar, originally from Mangaldoi, had been serving in a local school for the past four years.

Police suspect the motive to be rooted in the alleged extramarital affair and continue to investigate this gruesome case that has stunned the local community.
