Manipur Police Arrest 4 in Kidnapping and Extortion Case that Targeted Delhi, Jaipur Victims

Manipur Police: The victims were allegedly lured to Manipur under the pretext of receiving training for a networking business.
In a swift operation, Manipur Police arrested four individuals on May 18 and 19 from Himalayan Tiles Naka in Imphal West district in connection with the kidnapping and extortion of two men from Delhi and Jaipur.
According to the police, the victims were allegedly lured to Manipur under the pretext of receiving training for a networking business. However, upon their arrival in Imphal, the duo was abducted and held captive by the accused, who posed as armed goons. The perpetrators demanded ransom money and issued death threats to pressure the families of the victims.
In a post on X, Manipur Police stated: “On May 18 and 19, 2025, Manipur Police arrested 04 (four) individuals at Himalayan Tiles Naka, Imphal West in connection with a case related to kidnapping and extortion… The victims, two individuals from Delhi and Jaipur, were lured to Manipur under the pretense of receiving training for a networking business.”
The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Hellary Meetei (35), a resident of Thampnapokpi Mayai Leikai, currently residing in Kachikhul Mamang Leikai, Lamsang; Thangjam Lemba Singh (27) of Ngairangbam; Huirem Anand Singh (43) of Naoremthong Takhellambam Leikai; and Nahakpam Naresh Singh (28) of Langol Type II.
Items seized from their possession include a .32 calibre pistol with a magazine and five live rounds, two gun licences, a pocket knife, two mobile phones, and a four-wheeler vehicle.
The victims were successfully rescued and are reported to be safe. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the group’s operations and are exploring the possibility that there may be additional victims.
Police have assured that strict action will be taken and that further updates will follow as the probe progresses.
