The 52-km stretch, which runs alongside the Teesta River in West Bengal, faces frequent disruptions from landslides and cave-ins, especially during the monsoon.

The Sevoke-Rangpo stretch of National Highway 10, a critical route connecting Sikkim to the rest of India, will remain closed for all vehicular movement from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on May 15, 17, and 19. The National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, announced the closure to carry out essential repair and protection work.

The 52-km stretch, which runs alongside the Teesta River in West Bengal, faces frequent disruptions from landslides and cave-ins, especially during the monsoon season. NHIDCL recently took over the maintenance of this critical section from the state government and has prioritised repairs to damaged sections of the highway, along with protective measures along the riverbank.

During the nine-hour closures, no vehicles, including heavy goods trucks, will be allowed to use this route. Authorities have advised commuters to plan alternate travel arrangements, avoid unnecessary calls to emergency contacts, and prepare for possible delays.
