Body of Deepak Chingakham, BSF Jawan from Manipur killed in cross-border firing by Pakistan to be brought home tomorrow

Deepak Chingakham’s father expressed immense pride in his son’s supreme sacrifice.
The mortal remains of Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham, a braveheart from Manipur serving with the Border Security Force (BSF), who was martyred in cross-border firing by Pakistan in Jammu, will be brought back home tomorrow.
Chingakham’s body will arrive at Imphal Airport around 1 PM on an Indigo flight.
A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the airport to pay tribute to the fallen hero.
Following the ceremony, the mortal remains will be taken to his hometown Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai in Imphal East district where the last rites of the braveheart will be performed with full Force Honour.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Deepak Chingakham’s father expressed immense pride in his son’s supreme sacrifice.
“I am proud of my son, who laid down his life for the nation. He sacrificed his life while protecting 140 crore Indians during the Pakistan-India conflict,” he said, holding back tears.
Chingakham was critically injured in the cross-border firing by Pakistan on May 10 in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. He succumbed to his injuries on May 11 while undergoing treatment.
Yesterday, former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took to social media platform X to pay tribute, stating “Deeply saddened by the martyrdom of BSF Braveheart Constable (GD) Deepak Chingakham, who sustained fatal injuries during cross border firing from Pakistan in the R S Pura sector and laid down his life in the line of duty. He was a proud son of Manipur, and as a Manipuri-Meitei, his courage and devotion to the nation reflect the unwavering commitment of our people to protect and serve. We salute the armed forces for their relentless dedication and bravery. We stand with the family of Constable Deepak in this difficult time and will extend all possible support. His sacrifice will always be remembered with honour and pride.”
