The timing of the post drew sharp reactions, as it coincided with reports of an anti-terror operation by the Indian Army inside Pakistan.

A youth has been detained by Assam Police after a social media post sparked controversy amid heightened national security concerns.

The detained individual has been identified as Nasim Laskar, from Durgapally in Silchar district of Assam.

Laskar’s post, which read “Islam will triumph, Inshallah,” was accompanied by the national flags of eight countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, and Bangladesh.

The timing of the post drew sharp reactions, as it coincided with reports of an anti-terror operation by the Indian Army inside Pakistan. The incident prompted resident Santosh Nunia to lodge an FIR at the Ghungoor police outpost. Acting on the complaint, police officials reached Durgapally and took Laskar into custody for questioning.

Local residents have condemned the post, calling it “anti-national” and demanding strict punishment. The police have initiated a probe and are examining Laskar’s mobile phone and other digital devices.

The incident has led to growing tension in the locality. Authorities have stepped up vigilance to prevent any communal unrest.

It needs to be mentioned that earlier, 37 individuals were arrested across Assam following the Pahalgam terror attack, where individuals were allegedly found defending Pakistan on Indian soil. The Assam Police continues to monitor and act against seditious content to maintain communal harmony in the state.
