Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated a 10 km road between Singtam and Dikchu in Sikkim on the occasion of the 66th Foundation Day of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The project was among 50 key infrastructure developments inaugurated across India.
Sikkim’s Roads and Bridges Minister NB Dahal was present on-site during the virtual launch. He also announced that three new bridges in North Sikkim will be inaugurated later this month, greatly easing travel in the region.
Expressing gratitude to the BRO and the central government, he announced the upcoming inauguration of three vital bridges in North Sikkim: Sangkalang Bailey, Rishi Khola, and Dzo Jongoby the end of May.
Addressing concerns about National Highway 10 (NH 10), Minister Dahal clarified that while construction is ongoing, there will be no complete closure.
He also assured the public that during the monsoon season, NH 10 will not be closed for more than an hour at a time.
“We are very thankful to the government, BRO, and the public,” Dahal said, emphasizing the state’s ongoing commitment to improving road connectivity and monitoring key infrastructure in North Sikkim.
