In a sensational allegation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi of taking 90 Indian youths to the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi alleging that the visit was part of a larger radicalisation effort.
The Chief Minister said that some of the youths were unaware of the fact that they were taken to Pakistan Embassy.
“First Gaurav Gogoi Visited Pakistan and stayed there for 15 days, after that he took 90 youths to the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi for radicalisation. Some of the youths have given us statements that they were not told that they were being taken to Pakistan Embassy,” said CM Sarma.
Further intensifying his allegations, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Gaurav Gogoi’s wife also visited Pakistan with him. She was there for 7 days and then returned, but Gogoi continued his stay and even met a Pakistani Army official.”
Raising suspicion over Gogoi’s foreign visits, CM Sarma questioned his 7-day trip to Nepal, stating it was unusually long for a typical Indian tourist.
“What is there in Nepal to stay for 7 days? For any Indian, 2 days is enough,” CM Sarma said.
Responding to critics who questioned whether visiting Pakistan is a crime, the CM directed his question to Congress leadership.
“Let Rahul Gandhi clarify, if an Indian, who happened to be the son of a sitting Chief Minister (Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi), visits Pakistan without informing his party, is that not a crime? We want to know the Congress party’s official position.”
He further added that he would seek an appointment with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge to demand clarity on the matter.
“I will ask Mallikarjun Kharge directly, do they consider this a crime or not?”
