Assam: Japan Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro Visits Upcoming Tata Semiconductor Project In Jagiroad

The Japanese delegation also visited an upcoming technical training centre in North Guwahati as part of their three day long Assam visit.

A high-level Japanese delegation led by Nukaga Fukushiro, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, on Sunday, visited the upcoming Tata semiconductor project in Jagiroad along with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The 50-member delegation is led by Japan’s parliamentary speaker Nukuga Fukushiro.
Chief Minister Himanta biswa Sarma welcomed the delegation and shared Assam’s vision in the semiconductor sector. The visit marks a significant step in strengthening Indo-Japan collaboration in advanced technology and manufacturing.

While speaking to media, CM Sarma said, “Today, people are witnessing delegations from Japan, and industry leaders like Adani coming to Assam. This proves we’re not just stopping at organising Advantage Assam 2.0. We’re working to turn every commitment made during the summit into reality.”

“Japan’s leadership is thoughtful and deliberate. Once they make a decision, they honour it. This visit is a testimony to that commitment,” Sarma remarked.

The Japanese delegation also visited an upcoming technical training centre in North Guwahati as part of their three day long Assam visit.

The technical training centre is set to come up at Amingaon in North Guwahati. The centre, which would be set up in collaboration with the Japanese government, would give training in Japanese language to youngsters and also other various types of technical and professional trainings.

The technical training centre will come up at the newly constructed building of the tourism department in Amingaon. Members of the visiting Japanese delegation paid a visit to the technical centre in Amingaon and took stock of the work progress there. Assam cabinet minister Ranjit Dass accompanied the Japanese delegates during the visit.

On Saturday, discussions Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had a closed door meeting with the Japanese delegates where talks focused about the ongoing collaboration projects and also on exploring further investment options in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the visit of the delegation points towards closer convergence of interests between Japan and Assam, in alignment with India’s Act East Policy.

“I had the distinct honour to welcome H.E. Mr. Nukaga Fukushiro, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan and his distinguished delegation, at Lok Sewa Bhawan today. This hugely significant visit points to closer convergence of interests between Japan and the State of Assam, in alignment with India’s Act East Policy,” Sarma said in a post on X.

The Chief Minister said that his visit to Tokyo earlier this year and the Advantage Assam 2.0 had set the tone for close economic, cultural and people-to-people engagement between Japan and Assam.

“My visit to Tokyo earlier this year and #AdvantageAssam2 had set the tone for close economic, cultural and people to people engagement between Japan and Assam. During our discussions we spoke at length on laying a strong foundation that will enable Japanese institutions to partner with Assam, innovate and grow with us,” the Chief Minister said.
