Poachers Kill 3 Elephants in Manas; BTC Chief Pramod Boro Condemns Act, Pledges Stern Action

Boro called on the public to remain alert and join hands in the fight against poaching.
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief, Pramod Boro, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of three wild elephants by poachers in Manas National Park. Expressing deep concern over the incident, which occurred yesterday, Boro assured that the matter would be treated with utmost seriousness and that steps were underway to arrest the perpetrators.
“This is a grave matter. We will not tolerate any threat to our wildlife and will ensure strict action against those involved,” Boro stated.
He stated, “The progress made under government initiatives, hundreds of former poachers had surrendered their handmade firearms and hunting tools in recent years.” Boro said Poaching in the BTC region had significantly declined due to sustained efforts.
Emphasizing the council’s commitment to environmental conservation, Boro spoke of several initiatives aimed at protecting wildlife, preserving natural resources, and promoting eco-tourism in the region.
He also mentioned measures taken to reduce human-elephant conflict, including compensation for families affected by such incidents.
Boro called on the public to remain alert and join hands in the fight against poaching. “We must all come together to protect our precious wildlife and natural heritage,” he urged.
