Japan’s House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga Fukushiro arrived in Assam today, leading a high-powered 50-member delegation. The visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening the growing partnership between Japan and Assam.
The Japanese delegation will meet Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today to hold wide-ranging discussions on key collaborative projects. Both sides are expected to explore new opportunities and review the progress of ongoing developmental initiatives in Assam supported by Japan.
The delegation will continue its visit tomorrow by touring the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and the upcoming Tata semiconductor manufacturing site in Jagiroad. These visits underline Japan’s interest in Assam’s academic and industrial sectors, particularly in technology and innovation.
Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X, “A warm welcome to H.E Nukaga Fukushiro and the Japanese delegation to Assam. I am confident this visit will further strengthen the strong bond between Japan and Assam and give momentum to the strong headway made during my visit to the country earlier this year.”
The Japanese delegation will conclude its Assam visit on May 5, wrapping up a series of engagements aimed at deepening the bilateral ties and fostering joint development efforts across sectors.
