Will Resign, If MP Gaurav Gogoi Proves He Didn’t Go To Pakistan: Assam CM Dares Gogoi

The Assam Chief Minister's response came when he was asked about Gaurav Gogoi reportedly denying his links with Pakistan.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has dared Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi to substantiate that he never went to Pakistan.
Chief Minister Sarma said that there is enough evidence with the Assam Government to establish the fact that the Congress MP had visited Pakistan multiple times.
Chief Minister Sarma said that he would readily resign if the MP can prove that he had never been to Pakistan.
The Assam Chief Minister’s response came when he was asked about Gaurav Gogoi reportedly denying his links with Pakistan.
On Thursday without naming MP Gaurav Gogoi, Chief Minister had reiterated that startling facts will be exposed pertaining to links between an MP from the state and certain entities in Pakistan.
Sarma said that the S.I.T. which is investigating the MP’s suspected Pakistan links, has accessed leads which substantiate that the MP’s wife had received from salary from Pakistan while she was working with an NGO based in Delhi.
CM Sarma further said initial probe establishes the fact that he had also travelled to Nepal. Prior to that, Sarma had informed that an MP from Assam had stayed in Islamabad for at least 15 days.
He further added that the MP had not informed the Centre about his stay in Islamabad, which is mandatory as per standard protocols.
The Assam Chief Minister said that within September this year, a detailed report will come up which establish the fact about close links between the MP’s family and certain entities in Pakistan. It may be mentioned that the Assam Government has a constituted a special investigation team of Assam Police to probe the alleged connection between Elizabeth Gogoi, wife of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistani citizen Ali Tauqir Sheikh, who is associated with an NGO.
