“Silence doesn’t bring peace…India must respond”: Pradyot Debbarma on Pahalgam Terror Attack

Pradyot Debbarma also denounced the statements made by leaders from neighbouring countries, Pakistan and Bangladesh, following the attack.
In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 28 innocent civilians, Tipra Motha founder and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Debbarma has called for a strong response from India, stating that silence and fear are no substitutes for justice and peace.
Debbarma took to X and wrote, “Silence doesn’t bring justice. And fear doesn’t build peace. India must and should respond.”
He also denounced the statements made by leaders from neighbouring countries, Pakistan and Bangladesh, following the attack.
He expressed deep dissatisfaction with Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, who recently referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein”, a statement which is drawing criticism after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Addressing the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad on April 16, General Munir spoke about Kashmir and said, “Our stance is absolutely clear, it was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein, we will not forget it. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle.” He told a gathering of Pakistanis who are based abroad that they were the country’s ambassadors and must not forget that they belong to a “superior ideology and culture”, reported NDTV.
While Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus condemned the attack in a statement posted on X, reaffirming his country’s stand against terrorism, Debbarma remained critical.
Commenting on the responses from across the border, Pradyot Debbarma said, “The language of the leaders in our neighbourhood countries be it Army General of Pakistan or Chief Advisor Government of Bangladesh is simply unacceptable. Ironically they both are not answerable to the voters in their country.”
In an earlier post, Debbarma had said, “The dastardly killing of innocent civilians in #Pahalgam has once again showed that India needs to take a stronger position on fundamentalist elements in our neighbourhood especially our neighbours . Only cowards can do this criminal act ! What has happened today is unforgivable!.”
The serene tourist spot turned into a nightmare as 6 heavily armed men of The Resistance Front (TRF) linked to Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed’s Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) opened indiscriminate fire on tourists on April 22 leaving 28 dead.
The attackers were equipped with US-made M4 carbines and AK-47/56 rifles.
Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force, a brave son of Arunachal Pradesh was among the 28 dead.
While, Assam University professor Debashish Bhattacharjee, a resident of Sribhumi district in Assam and his family narrowly escaped the brutal terror attack.
The attack, which claimed the lives of numerous innocent civilians, has drawn sharp condemnation from across the world.
Security forces have launched an intensive manhunt to trace the perpetrators.
The nation mourns the loss of bravehearts like Corporal Hailyang, whose dedication to service remains a shining example of patriotism and supreme sacrifice.
