In a heart-stirring rescue operation, Assam Rifles on April 21 saved the life of a two-year-old girl named Chuishut, who had accidentally fallen into a water tank in the remote village of Grihang, located in Manipur’s Kamjong district.

The incident took place at around 5:40 AM in one of the most inaccessible regions of the state. With no proper road access and completely cut off by air, the village had little hope of receiving timely medical support. But swift action by Assam Rifles changed everything.

In a release, Assam Rifles stated that upon receiving a distress call, their troops along with medical personnel immediately rushed to the village. They provided the child with first aid on the spot and quickly arranged for a military helicopter to evacuate her to the Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Imphal.

Despite major logistical challenges, the team showed remarkable coordination and determination. Within hours, they successfully airlifted the child and brought her under expert paediatric care at the military hospital in Mantripukhari. Doctors confirmed that the timely intervention proved critical, as any delay could have been fatal.

The child’s parents, overwhelmed with emotion, said, “We thought we were going to lose her. Assam Rifles gave her back to us.”
