Tripura Govt to Fill 13,000 Vacant Posts Soon: Finance Minister Amid Opposition Heat

Government has already provided 17,500 permanent jobs, and the recruitment process for another 13,000 posts is underway
Amid continued criticism from the Opposition CPIM and Congress over rising unemployment and thousands of posts lying vacant in Tripura’s state government departments, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Saturday said the BJP-led government is actively working to fill these vacancies in a transparent and rule-based manner.
Speaking at an offer letter distribution event for newly appointed Inspectors of the Small Savings Department, Singha Roy said, “The government has already provided 17,500 permanent jobs, and the recruitment process for another 13,000 posts is currently underway through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) and the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). It is the government’s responsibility to ensure smooth functioning of all departments, and we are fully committed to that goal.”
Responding to concerns raised by the Opposition during the recently concluded Assembly session, the minister pointed out that the recruitment process under the current BJP-led government might be slower but is far more transparent than what was witnessed under previous regimes. “Unlike the earlier Left Front government, we are ensuring that only deserving and qualified candidates get selected. This prevents future legal complications or dismissals caused by irregular appointments, which were frequent in the past,” he said.
Taking a direct swipe at the CPIM-led government, Singha Roy said, “During their tenure, many people lost their jobs after the courts found irregularities in the recruitment process. Even recently, over 26,000 jobs in West Bengal were cancelled due to such issues. Our government is taking strict care to avoid such pitfalls by following all recruitment norms and ensuring fairness.”
The Finance Minister firmly stated that the state government is focused on filling all the vacant posts in a phased and lawful manner. “We are working to strengthen the overall efficiency of the administration, and filling up these posts is an important part of that effort,” he added.
