Chum Darang, the talented actress hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, has taken a bold step into the world of psychological horror with her latest role in Khauf, now streaming on Prime Video India. Known for her compelling screen presence, Darang brings a haunting depth to the character of Svetlana, a mysterious figure tied to the dark secrets lurking within a secluded women’s hostel.
Directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, Khauf is a gripping psychological drama that explores the unsettling experiences of Madhu, a young woman seeking peace in a new city, only to uncover terrifying truths about her new residence. Darang joins a powerful ensemble cast that includes Monika Panwar, Rajat Kapoor, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Abhishek Chauhan, and Shilpa Shukla.
Created and written by Smita Singh, and produced by Matchbox Shots, the series premiered on April 18 and quickly caught the attention of both fans and celebrities.
The trailer alone stirred up considerable buzz, with Prime Video sharing eerie glimpses from the show on social media. Captioning a post, the platform wrote, “Moments from the trailer that gave us Khauf (sin),” to which Darang responded with heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you all for such an amazing response. Hope you all are equally excited for the show (sin). Come 18th April.”
Chum Darang’s performance as Svetlana is already gaining praise, highlighting her versatility and bold choices as an actor. Actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who has shared a warm friendship with Darang since their Bigg Boss 18 days, offered loud cheers for her “chumtiiiiiii,” celebrating the rising star’s latest achievement.
With Khauf, Darang proves she’s a force to watch in Indian entertainment, especially in roles that dare to disturb and intrigue.
